Our sites

To transform its ideas and research into innovative products and services, NaTran R&I has two technical sites in the Paris region, equipped with testing facilities, and a Power-to-Gas demonstration site, the Jupiter 1000 project in Fos-sur-Mer. Thanks to these resources and the wealth of skills of its teams, NaTran R&I is in a position to meet new energy-related challenges.

Sibelius

Villeneuve-la-Garenne

In July 2019, NaTran R&I opened its new test site on the Chanteraines business park in Villeneuve-la Garenne. Called Sibelius, this dynamic, friendly, inspiring and innovation-accelerating site boasts 6,500 square meters of laboratories and offices, facilitating coworking and creativity. In this HQE-certified building for tertiary zones, teams enjoy shared offices with open spaces, paperless working and clean desks. Doctors, engineers, project managers and technicians have access to 20 laboratories, 6 industrial workshops and 2 test pits dedicated to research and innovation in key areas for gas infrastructures and the energy transition.

Alfortville

Alfortville

At its Alfortville site (Val de Marne), NaTran R&I has a test station, the only one of its kind in Europe, which enables it to evaluate gas and air equipment for network operation, at pressures of up to 60 bar and flow rates of 8,000 Nm3/h: meters, regulators, valves and safety devices, shut-off devices and odorization skids.
The site has two test halls, one for network equipment and the other for flowmetering, with a total of 7 test benches (gas and air), as well as a laboratory dedicated to IoT.
Since the end of 2021, new test benches dedicated to hydrogen and new gases have also been installed on the FenHYx R&D platform.

Jupiter 1000

Fos-sur-Mer

Jupiter 1000 is an industrial Power-to-Gas demonstrator. Located at Fos-sur-Mer on a platform dedicated to energy transition, the facility aims to transform renewable electricity into gas for storage. Electricity is converted into hydrogen by two electrolyzers. A methanation reactor also converts hydrogen and CO2 into synthetic methane. (CO2 is captured from nearby industrial fumes). Hydrogen and synthetic methane are injected into NaTran networks. Commissioned in 2020, the site will enable partners to test different facets of the technology (design, control, reliability, economics, impact on downstream networks, etc.).
